Is that a '56 Ford in the pic also? You never mention Ford's. Or is that from where you bought it?

That is a 55 Ford. At the very top of the tail fin, there was a round red reflector on 56 tail lights.

Re: 3 years ago I dragged the 66 home.

And back in the day, one of the common custom things to do to a 55-56 Ford (or 55-56 T-bird) was to replace the complete tail light with a Mercury STATION WAGON tail light. Probably no one here remembers that!

Pepperidge Farms remembers.

I liked the Merc SW tail lights too, but the 58 Edsel station wagon tail lights were my favorites, and were almost a direct swap into a 57 Ford. Only ever owned one pair of them though. Had to pay the princely sum of one hundred for the pair, but well worth it.

The only reason someone would want insurance is if they want to pay someone elses bills or want someone else to pay their bills.

Doesn’t look like a very straightforward swap.

Re: 3 years ago I dragged the 66 home.

when I saw the 66 and pulled over, the girl was trying to corral 4 kids into the minivan. a asked if the car was for sale a d she asked which one? I said the chevelle, she said the chevy was for sale but the ford wasnt. One of the reasons her husband told me the chevelle was up for sale was because it was "too new" he didnt do cars after 56 or 57, and he didnt do chevys. jim

I remember that also.. How about the flat plastic tail light lenses. They looked nice on 57 Fords. Anybody remember scavenger pipes?

Tom, as I've stated in other threads, I'm so old, I remember when dirt was new.

Re: 3 years ago I dragged the 66 home.

Mr. Tom is very correct! I installed 56 Merc. Sta. Wgn. tailights in my Moms 55 Ford Customline, I also removed the Ford keystone from the hood.
Moms 272 had the crossover pipe that went across the front of the 272.
I installed " Duals ",,,, The kit had a pipe that attached to the front of the drivers side exhaust manifold and curved down to the drivers side to complete the drivers side exhaust. ( the kit had a block off plate for the pass. side manifold)
I do remember my Dad working on the valve train. I believe it was the right bank on the 272 that had NO OIL to the rockers. My Dad installed some kind of a ( FORD KIT) to allow the rockers to get oil. My neighbor, Roger B. had a 56 two tone Red & White Fairlane ( 2 Dr. Post) with a FACTORY Ford,,, McCollough Blower. Also , If you have been on the planet for a long while, On Rogers 56 ford with a factory blower, He ran old style snow tires with studs, Yea, I Know, What the hell are studs? ( some winter tires had Sawdust in them.)
At night when Roger would burn some tire ,,,, WOW,, You could see... " SPARKS ".
Larry Wynn, from Beaver,Pa. had a 312 in a 55 2 dr. post Customline, And ,, YES, He did beat a bunch of Chevys. Ed Kuna from Monaca,Pa. had a Green-"210"- 2-tone 2 dr. post Del Rey--220-P.P. His 56 was also very fast.
P.S. In 1957 you could get a kit from Chevrolet that would allow a FOUR SPEED to be installed at a Chevrolet DEALER. Don Fezell from Dubois,Pa. Has a green 2 Dr. Hdt. that is a 4 speed and its a Fueler. Can you say " Black Widow"...?? NO its not a Spyder!
Bob
What is the FIRST Production Chevrolet to have a ALUMINIUM Rad. ????
It is not a trick question. Its not a race car. It is just a Chevrolet that a lot of people have owned and driven. What was the year of the first Production ALUMINIUM Rad. in a Chevrolet????? STATE YOUR GUESS, i WILL POST IT TOMORROW, If you know , kinda keep it to yourself. The answer will surprise a LOT folks.
