2020 C8 Vette

I have to say, I've yawned at Corvettes for long time, but the C8 mid engine has me smiling. Haven't sat in one (most likely a chore getting my "trim" body in/out) and wouldn't want anything more than a base model (which means probably waiting a year) but it's definitely on my wish list.

C8 is supposed to have better access into the cockpit.

Re: 2020 C8 Vette

I've never been so tempted to buy a new car in my life.

I'm not going to, but I'm tempted.

If you like what you've seen so far, just wait until the Grand Sport and Z06 hit.

Re: 2020 C8 Vette

I lost interest in Corvettes since 97 when they made the body change. Even the 2020 model has decreased my interest in them even more. I don't have the money or the body to be able to crawl in and out of one anymore. I still feel the best years for the Corvette were 63 to 67.

I'm more of a '68 to '72(3) era. For some reason I like the '78 to '80 ones also.

Re: 2020 C8 Vette

I will immediately admit (I DO NOT need a lecture from anyone!!!) that the late model Corvettes have all the whistles and bells-----------and more. More power with the same displacement, better braking, better handling, LOTS of power features, fine tunes, air cond, etc, et, etc. They just do not trup my trigger!
But they just do not have that magic iconic appeal of the old cars. I have NO desire for ANYTHING past 62.
I've had ours for 45+yrs and still happy with it------------and most people like it also.

I'd take just about any Corvette, but yeah, I'm a C3 guy, maybe ideally a 1974 Convertible with 454, the last hurrah. Or the 1980 Commemorative with lift up rear window. C4s never did it for me other than suspension, and it took a while until the modern ones got nice dash clusters I think.

Re: 2020 C8 Vette

Having had every version of Vette, I thought I was done with them. The only one I'm sorry I sold was my '62 fuelie. That was just a badass car that kept appreciating (and still is) The C8 is definitely exciting though, if it had a man pedal, it would be really tempting.

Re: 2020 C8 Vette

55-57 only, since the Mako and SS's were never sold to the public.
And yes I do know that is two different body styles.
New one is a big yawn as I follow MY taste not what Madison Ave. dictates.
If I had the funds I might build a 55 or 57 replica to my own desires.
Complete sleeper, no LS, and no cup holders!
I do occasionally look at C4's as parts cars for a Devin SS I would like to build.

At these gas prices I want it 100+ octane, leaded, and my windshield washed!

As usual, Andy is right
If it doesn't fit, force it. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyway.

I have to keep reminding myself this isn't a Z16 convertible, Evening Orchid Camaro, or factory 1966 SS427 and get on with it.
