Took the 67 to another show

Went to a local church show last Saturday with my dad and uncle. Dad took his 63 1/2 Galaxie and my uncle took his 1964 F-100 Astros truck. I won 1st in classic category and people’s choice overall. Dad didn’t win anything but I told him he needs a couple of more props to get those points. I got him a 1:18 model like I have of his car. Black was impossible to find but I found a red one with red interior which works since he has red interior. I sand blasted and primed the body panels after disassembly. Also got some torque thrust style wheels to match his car. Click image for larger version

If you went to the effort of sandblasting the model car body panels, why not just paint it black instead of red?

All of those rides looking slick!

Thanks! I sand blasted the car because it came in red, but had the red interior like my dad's car has. I am going to paint it black. Got it all primed last night and tested the new wheels to see if they would tuck. I think I got it pretty close. Let me know what you think.

Re: Took the 67 to another show

I totally misunderstood what was happening haha. I thought you bought a model and were building it (when the model is red in the pic), now I see you got a die cast and broke it down and sandblasted to remove the red. Very cool!

Re: Took the 67 to another show

Let me get this straight, you need “props” at a car show now?

Tighten it till it strips and back it off a quarter turn.

It’s just extra points. You could have a great car but no props and someone have a crappy car with all kind of props and they beat you.

Re: Took the 67 to another show

Don't get me wrong here but there was a local guy with a nice 66 Chevelle convertible, triple black. He had all kind of props and fake SS badges. Guy didn't even know his vin number gave him away plus car was a former 6 cyl with a 350 in it. Car used to belong to a former NFL Quarterback and he played that up as well with the guys signiture on the glove box and and pics of the former NFL guy and owner like they were good friends. Personally I thought the guy was an ass hat and I wasn't impressed with his pics or his car.
If someone wants to use props that is fine but ai would rather see the car speak for itself and could never see myself using them.

There were at least 40-50 cars there. 66 Shelby mustang, a nice 58 Cadillac, an un-restored original owner black 68 SS Chevelle, and those are just the really nice ones that stand out in my memory. To be honest I don't really go to these shows looking to win a trophy and I'm usually surprised when I do, but when I took my car to an annual show at a local high school and a 98 buick with lambo doors and all kind of props, signs, toys, and whatever else beat my car based on those "points" I figured I'd even the playing field and get some props to make it about the cars again.
