Nope...

Its that the OP has integrity, unlike many other people...

The Peeve had NOTHING to do with "flipping", or making money (or trying to make money) on the car... It was simply the lies ("the car isn't worth what you are asking") and the selling for health reasons when its not true...

If the buyer said "I can give you $6200 cash, today", then it would be not big deal (IMO)… But when he says " the car isn't worth the original asking price" when he is confident its is worth more...

And I am not really sure why he mentions "health" forcing the sale...

I supposed the buyer figures he can get a quick offer by someone thinking they can "steal" it from him, and yet still make a quick and tidy profit...

In actuality, I bought a car from the same neighbor earlier this year... He had a 2005 Prius (original owner, 215,000 miles) and he bought a newer Honda Accord ( He still has 3 other classics he drives regularly). I asked what he was doing with the Prius, and he mentioned that the dealer offered $700, and he was thinking of going back to accept... I asked what he would sell it to me for, and more importantly, would he be comfortable selling to me (as we are neighbors and "car buddies"). He said he'd sell it to me for $800... I paid him what he wanted, and knew I could sell it for $3500-$4000, as its in excellent condition with a recent genuine Toyota Hybrid battery (still under warrantee), newer brakes, nice tires and very good shape overall (Rear spoiler and door handles have dull paint)…

I bought the Prius for my 16 year old daughter to drive to high school.

In life, I try not to take advantage of people... so it just bugs me when people do it intentionally...

That flipper is an idiot. He's good at buying... not selling. He should've already sold it and moved onto the next..

Re: personal pet peeve...

This has nothing to do with flipping, more with not rubbing it in the sellers face. The year was 1963, month of July. My family had rode a Greyhound bus from NJ to AZ, it was a miserable trip. Dad cashed in the round trip tickets and started looking for a used car. He finds an ad for a 55 Pontiac 2 door with AC, auto, power steering and brakes. Ad states bad transmission. Dad starts the engine and puts it in gear, the car doesn't move but the speedometer is, look under and the driveshaft is turning. Broken axle. Dad buys the car for the asking price of $50 and says he will be back the next day. He goes to a junk yard buys an axle for $5, loads up some tools and has my uncle drive him back to the car.
Now here is where he an I differed on the course of action. He changes the axle in front of the sellers house and loads up, drives away. I wanted to tow the car at least around the corner before changing the axle. The seller could have sold for 3 times the money with a broken axle instead of a bad transmission.
By the time we got back home Dad had driven the car over 3000 miles without any issues. We went to northern California sightseeing and then back to the east coast. Drove the car about a year and sold it for a nice profit. There were not many 55 Pontiac's in NJ with AC and no rust.

He wouldn’t give it a second thought, why should he?

I actually wonder if the current ad is by a second flipper.

I have said it before and I'll say it gain, "Integrity, if you have it it doesn't matter, if you don't have it it doesn't matter."

Think about who they are talking about in each instance above.

This latest add uses the same "Delaware" phone number...

I kind of wonder if its really been sold/flipped already, and these ads are just a big FU to my neighbor from the first buyer... I mean, really, if the car wasn't selling at $16k, WHY bump it all the way to $50k?

Despite the Delaware number, I think the guy is local (Sacramento area)...
