67 SS Hood- debating what to do

So my 67 SS is fully restored but about a year ago I noticed a small hairline crack at center hood line. My dad has a body shop and we removed the hood and took it into the shop,p. It is a real 67SS hood, well after his guys looked at it they didnít want to touch it because they determined it had been hit before and repaired and didnít want to open a can of worms. I have been looking for a NOS or used hood for a while and have t been able to find one for sale. Any suggestions on where to look as I feel I have looked everywhere. Also I have read mixed reviews on aftermarket hoods. Just wanted your expert opinions.

if you're not planning on reusing it, what's that harm in blasting it and seeing what the real damage is?

Re: 67 SS Hood- debating what to do

Good luck finding a nice used hood. A nos would be nice too but you're gonna dig deep either way you go. I agree, take your existing hood to a "qualified" repairman.

Have you placed a 'wanted" ad here of TC?

Have you placed a wanted ad on your local Craigslist? Its free and couldn't hurtÖ I have done it a few times, and have had some luck.

Re: 67 SS Hood- debating what to do

Iíd strip the hood myself or gamble the cost of having it stripped. It could be a minor repair done poorly.
I bought a OEM 67 SS hood that was rusted along the front and stripped most of it to cut the humps out to blend them into a 66 hood (I have a 66 but like the 67 humps better). Stripping wasnít that difficult.
