Those Nascar guys need to stay on the ground. Too many lost in aviation incidents. I'm glad they are all ok.

He is wise to have professional pilots. A lot of racer/pilots have too much self confidence and fly themselves into trouble. It is good news that everyone will be OK.

He'll skip his announcer duties at Bristol this weekend. I would, too!

Anyone listen to the podcast? Ironic that he gave his pilot "Dew Time Off" and then this happens.

I said oh no when I heard the lead in to this on the news last night. Could have been so bad, thankfully it wasn't!

Yeah, we're runnin' a little bit hot tonight,
I can barely see the road from the heat comin' off,
You know what I'm sayin',
Ahh, you reach down, put it between my legs 'n
ease the seat back,
She's runnin', I'm flyin',
Right behind in the rear view mirror now,
Got the fearin', power steerin',
Pistons poppin', ain't no stoppin' now,
PANAMA!

And of course the FAA is reporting his plane made a "hard landing". Lol. Way to go, feds. I'm this is how they came to that conclusion.

FAA: So, what happened Mr. Earnhardt?
Junior: Well, here is what happened fellas...I made a hard landing, and the damn plane just caught fire.

Hard landing plus collapsed landing gear. There is an odd part of this story. They mention "tyre" marks on the runway. When does the news in the US spell it that way? I thought we fought the Brits so that we did not have to spell things their way.

Probably multiple eyewitness reports. Celebrities often have people waiting at the airport for their arrivals. "Junior" wouldn't know unless he was sitting in one of the pilots seats, or the jump seat...He couldn't possibly have made the landing could he or be sitting in one of the pilots seats? Is he a pilot? I guess the NTSB will tell us what happened after a year or so.

That runway is a bit short for jets ops. I haven't looked up the weather observation for that time. Many factors could have had a hand in overshooting he runway. One thing for sure, if it bounced, it wasn't being braked at the time.

"Professional pilots" ? Well, you got your professional pilots, and you got your "professional pilots"...

Investigators said weather was not an issue.

"The airport itself, the runway is about 4,500 feet long. The airplane was capable of landing at this runway. We don't see any indications that the initial touchdown was too long," said Ralph Hicks, an NTSB senior investigator.
