Inside a new Toyota engine (teardown video)

Here is a look at a contemporary Japanese inline 6 engine. Some interesting stuff here.

Pretty sure that's a BMW engine, not Japanese.

AAayyyyyy, not everyone knows everything.

I had to look it up myself: https://www.motor1.com/news/298196/t...e-explanation/

Papadakis is a seriously cool guy and puts out a lot of quality video content, you always learn something from him. I know nothing about the new supra, not really even on the radar, but seeing a teardown vid of the drivetrain is pretty awesome! I would have assumed some over engineered 4 banger was in it.

The variable cam timing/lift is pretty cool - Swiss watch cool.

Yep, that car is all BMW, like the Chrysler Crossfire I had, 99% Mercedes, built alongside first gen SLK.
Cool stuff in modern engines, they run and last very well, and are so much more complicated.

I think he mentions BMW in the video, but the actual role played by BMW was not explained.

At 5:02 in the video where the cam drive is shown you can see the who makes the engine:
