If it were white guys or any other ethnic group, I would still say that donk and Chevelle should not be said together. The racial sensitivity is overboard sometimes.

Totally agree. Nice looking cars. Not a fan of the wheels, but I bet its easier to get under and change the oil. The fact that they are still on the road is a thumbs up for me.

Re: The Brothers

I don't think anyone here has any problem with the cars other than the ridiculously large wheels. Of course that is only a matter of opinion, and everyone is entitled to their own, no matter how wrong it is.

Re: The Brothers

Dang nice Chevelles in that video.

Seems to me the racist part might be the title to this thread.

Agreed, and to me, the more sensitive a society is on various issues, the less gets done to resolve those same issues.

Lots of nice cars there. Personally I am not a fan of bigger wheels but LOTS of TC members are. And I have no way of telling what colour they are and quite frankly couldnt give a rats ass.
Thanks for posting the pics.

True, but you were the ONLY one to say "Donk" in regards to Chevelles shown… I even watch and listened to the video, and did hear "donk"...

IMO, much like "clone", "rare", "numbers matching", etc, terms like "donk" have been used completely wrong...

I read this on-line:
"Specifically, “donk” is the nickname for a customized 1971-76 Chevrolet Caprice or Impala. Many folks erroneously use it to describe any custom car with big wheels".

I remember this specifically from 15-20+ years ago... The later (77-91?) Caprice/Impalas were "Boxes", and later still were some other name (bubble?).

So, yes, "Chevelle" and "donk" should not be used together...

As for those cars in the video, one had some unusual colors, but other that that and the choice of wheels, there appeared to be NOTHING out of the ordinary on those Chevelles…

Slap a set of stock 14" wheels, and they look like a nicely restored Chevelle... Pro-touring/restomod, etc, they'd need to be lowered a bit too...

Personally, I'd reduce the wheel size a bit, and lower the cars a few inches... but that's just me.

It really depends on your perspective... Some people hate larger wheels, some people even hate 17-18" on Chevelles, some people think its okay to bastardize a Chevelle with non-stock 15" wheels, and some think "original" is the only way to go.

So people think an LS motor is great some think is sacrilege , some are BB only, some don't care, as long as they can cruise around in "style"... Some people see a car with an automatic, and immediately discount it, etc... Some people want modern seats, etc...

Personally, I hate those overly large wheels, but IMO, its primarily because many cars sit so high. I look at low-profile tires and large wheels as a way to improve handling, so the high stance is what gets me...

So only a Caprice or Impala from 71 - 76 can be a donk? And only a Caprice or Impala from 77 - 99 can be a box? You sir are quite the precise expert. Congratulations.

Re: The Brothers

This post wasn't meant to be racist in any way, if it was I'm sure I could have picked a much better word than Brothers. I was surprised to see how many are into the old Chevelles and like I said they are pretty nicely done over cars except for the wheels and tires but that's coming from someone that thinks these cars should have nothing but 15" wheels on them.
