What to Charge ?

A wedding planner has approached me about using my cars (especially the Chevelle) as a wedding prop.

Any idea what to charge ?

Re: What to Charge ?

I'd want more specifics...

Just a prop for photos? Or will the couple be driven or drive anywhere? Even around a parking lot for action shots? Does the photographer plan on having the bride sit on the fender?

Where, and how safe will the car be? Will they allow you to be the only driver? will they allow you final say on poses (like the fender, etc). How long do they want the car for? Would you be willing to act as Chauffeur?

If its just a non-driven prop, and you can ensure the photog will cover any damages, then I'd think $75-$100/hour, with a minimum to cover your time...

I have loaned my 72 Malibu vert once and my 72 Chevy Truck twice for free and only asked for a pic of each from the event and never received more than a Thankyou for it .

My cousin loaned a mint 63 vette to carry the queen in a parade, they ran into the back of a float and just said oh sorry about that.

Re: What to Charge ?

I've done it twice, each time for $350 for two hours.

Was a big hit both times, and I was never more than 10 feet from my car.

No issues as long as you and the people agree on certain rules.

These are statements i agree with. My cars kinda suck, so no one is approaching me with cash, but to be a chauffeur at a wedding, someone is gonna have to shell out about double what i might be able to make working overtime at work, which probably has less risk than your car being on the road. Its one thing to do it for friends/family.....but for hire, no thanks.

Yhat's abeautiful car, I wouldn't mind a ride in it myself but I'm not putting on a dress to get it!

Re: What to Charge ?

I think I'd charge about $100/hr with a rather large refundable damage deposit and a walk around of the car before and after to see how much of the deposit they get back. This assumes you're driving the car. If they want to drive, it would be a hard no.

Re: What to Charge ?

I think I got paid $175 for my El Camino to sit in the background of TV shoot for Mindhunter. That is just sitting there, with nobody but me touching it. I would start around there, but it would be a lot less time than TV shoots. I answered one ad where someone was looking for something, but the bride didn't want any "trucks".
