Oh, the shame....THE SHAME !!!!

Today my Son-in-Law bought his soon to be 16 yr old son a 4 yr old Prius !!!!

And proceeds to tell me that's what my grand son wanted.

I'm beside myself........poor miss-guided child.
Obviously didn't get any of my DNA.

Re: Oh, the shame....THE SHAME !!!!

you know, for a 16 year old new driver a newer car makes a lot of sense. anti lock brakes, gps, lots of air bags. And when they do get into thier first fender bender, it's easier to deal with a bent Prius vs a 68 camaro. plus they can park it in the high school parking lot and not worry about parking lot ding

Heck yea, If he smashes it up, or someone steals that pile, it's no big deal.

If you lend someone $20, and never see that person again, it was probably worth it.

Might not have to worry about picking up girls either.

I dont disagree that a new drivers car should be loaded with safety equipment, and probably be just fast enough to get out of its own way. The next car, however, should burn gas and rubber.

Re: Oh, the shame....THE SHAME !!!!

I thought they were pretty quick.
Actually, better starting off with something like that, then they would really appreciate a real car. If they started with something almost decent but still FWD and a stick, say like a hot Golf or something, then they may never want to try a RWD (Real Wheel Drive!) car.
And hey, Wild Bill, maybe you need to get him behind the wheel of your cars more once he gets a license. (And don't tell me it is a white Prius "Just like grandpap's cars")

After watching that video maybe that kids not as much of a woos as you think he is. When he comes over to take you for a ride and you see the little plaque on the dash that says "Get in sit down and shut up" you might want to make sure your seat belts buckled.

Bill, I understand your feelings and Iím sure they are sincere. Why do you think he wants a Prius?

My niece is so indoctrinated in the global warming and doomsday propaganda from the left it makes you want to kick someoneís asp.

Re: Oh, the shame....THE SHAME !!!!

Still can't get my head around this...

Yeah, I agree about wanting all the safety features on a newer vehicle to help protect a new driver.

I have 5 grand kids...he's the 2nd oldest and first boy to be born. His older sister, now 18, was given a 6 yr old Camry by her other grand mother when she began to drive.

I was going to give this guy my '17 Camaro RS which I bought new and only has 2300 miles on it as a B-day surprise.

Guess I'm pissed that now I'm unable to do so....

Re: Oh, the shame....THE SHAME !!!!

I'm glad my Grandson has caught the bug. He's eleven, and told us at the Good Guys show in Scottsdale in March he wants an El Camino. I told him I'd help him build one...........we'll see.

Well, think of it this way. You can see how mature he is and handles a car, then maybe use yours as a graduation present when he gets a smidge older and more experience.
