ever put a for trade out there?

along with the parts we'll never use, anyone ever throw a will trade ad on craigslist just to see what is offered? I'm getting bored and thinking some sort of project would keep me occupied. Really dont have room so I'm sort of hesitant on putting a ad out in case something interesting is offered.
So what kind of good stuff have you guys got in trade, been offered etc? jim

Re: ever put a fir trade out there?

The only things that I ever get offered anything in trade for is guns. If I advertise a gun for sale, I will get trade offers. Nothing else that I have ever listed has gotten trade offers (of course I have never listed anything strictly for trade).

I've put a few leftover parts for sale on fb marketplace, and gotten trade offers on everything from worn out lawnmowers to queen sized mattresses.. But I live in the Ozarks.

I bought a '26 Model T roadster body for $300 and had a guy trade me a '50 Chevy pickup project for it, which I then sold for $1500.

the issue I have is I dont have anything in particular in mind. I had a bunch of woodworking tools in decided to get rid of. bandsaw, lathe, radial arm saw. nothing nice. I put chevy parts or guns. guy offered me a Astra 400? a Spanish semi auto in 9x23 largo, which I took because it was strange and smaller than the tools. jim

Around here any time you try to sell something people want to trade you a snowmobile or a quad for it. The only thing I'll trade for is cash.

Re: ever put a for trade out there?

I posted an ad years ago, trading one of my quads for carpet in a few rooms in my home. I didnt really think it would work out, but it did. He came out one saturday to show me samples and take a look at the job, and i got carpet installed the next Saturday, and dude took home a yamaha blaster. Dollar for dollar, it was probably a good trade.

I was specific as to what i wanted to trade. i would not post a general i have "X", what do you have. That would just lead me to getting crap i dont want just to get rid of what i wanted to trade. I have recently figured out i have too much crap, even though i dont have much crap, if that makes any sense.

Re: ever put a for trade out there?

My daughter had a Yamaha pw50 dirt bike that she had out grown. I paid probably $400 for it and freshened it up a bit. She rode it for a couple of years and I put it on craigslist for $500 or trade. Guy came to my house had a huge curved led light bar that is on my truck, some ridged cube led lights, and a warn 15,000 pound winch. I sold the winch for $1000 the next day. Got lucky on that one probably because it was the first time I did that and last.

I traded a $600 go kart straight across for a $2000 dirt bike a few years ago. His wife didn’t want him riding the bike, thought he would be safer on a go kart.
