what part will you never use?

we all have a stash of parts, but what useless part do you have in the shed, that you know deep in your heart you will never use, Bit you keep hanging one to it anyway.
not talking about the 1.5 tons of left overs, just a particular part and why do you keep it? jim

The stock points dizzy.. even tho I'll never put it back on, like the other factory parts I've taken off, they are all somewhere in the shop.

The original #s matching 350 out of my '69 Malibu.

I'll probably give it to my kid to put in his '55 Chevy.

Power steering box. I did the JGC swap, and I'll never put that back on, but it is (probably) original, and I can't toss it, even though a lot of the car isn't original. IF it ever dies, I'll just grab another one. I can't imagine ever wanting feather touch 4+ turns lock to lock again.

Spare two piece rotors, even though I'll never wear out the ones that are on the car now.

Re: what part will you never use?

I wouldn't know where to start. I have a TPI setup too, a couple LT1 intakes, LT1 heads, 3 extra 350s, A muncie M21, the 5 speed from my truck, th350, th400, boxes of HEI's, starters, alternators, pulleys, brackets, headers, intakes, you name it. Some day when I'm done messing around with cars, and that day is coming fast, it's all gonna go.

I figure if it's coming off the car it's for a reason so it goes in the trash.

Re: what part will you never use?

I jsut Ebay'd a BBC marine manifold, where the core shift was terrible. I needed a dual flange for aQjet, but I kept that one for years knowing I'd never run it on one of my engines ESP mated to oval heads. Unshifted rectangulars are bad enough.

Re: what part will you never use?

I think I have a Edelbrock manifold for a small block Ford still hanging around somewhere...

We do have a '66 Mustang (wife's first car) -- we've kinda given to our oldest son for a future project (haven't transferred title yet). Car hasn't been run in over 30 years and needs quite a bit of overhaul & restoration. Guess the manifold will end up on it someday (if I can find it!)

Re: what part will you never use?

Rear trunk panel from a '66 300 Deluxe... Very nice shape and uses the same "CHEVELLE" emblem as the SS... I cut it off decades ago (with about 10" of the quarter panels (it was a 4-door)... Its big and bulky, and I really don't see ever using it...

I also have a decent set of "core" bucket seats (69 GTO)... But right now, they are just an extra set... Maybe someday I'll buy another project, but I realize thats unlikely... I was going to put them in my '67 El Camino, but when I decided to sell, I just put a new cover on the stock bench...

I also have a few boxes of parts like headlight, ignition and wiper switches, horns, etc from '66s I have parted out. Stock "idiot light" clusters (in sad, old shape)... But re-doing my own car, I bought new stuff...

Once you go RAT, you never go back...
