Craigslist now charging $5 to list a car for sale?

This might improve it a bit for buyers, since people will need to be somewhat serious about selling in order to list something, but as a tightwad seller, I think it will further push sales toward Facebook Marketplace. I know I will probably list things for a week or two on Facebook for free now before going to Craigslist.

On the bright side, I think this will greatly reduce the scams.

I agree, I have sold 2 of my older cars on Craigslist, and would gladly have paid a small price for the listing. Especially when you can put so many pictures up, and can edit and repost it. Anything to beat the scammers I am OK with. (Including baseball bats)

I dont think $5 would stop any scammer. Even so, they are scammers and will think of other ways to get someones money. I also am not a Facebooker, and I wont become one just to look for a car.

It might slow them down from posting thousands of ads per day, unless they just use stolen CC information.

Same here....prefer forums to anyplace else maybe CL. Id pay $5 not a big deal but theres less bs to sift through if they do.

Y'all are missing out if you aren't using facebook marketplace. I find some deals on there. I had gotten completely off facebook for about a year and a half, but got sucked back in when marketplace started growing. I still look at craigslist, but I would much prefer to deal on fb marketplace. At least with fb, you can kinda sorta know who you are dealing with. It doesn't seem near as flaky. Craigslist folks are the worst. I have bought so much stuff on craigslist, and it is funny to hear people respond when you show up, " I can't believe you actually came". On the other side, I don't hold anything for anybody. I have had too many people flake out.

CL is pretty much a waste around here....Marketplace is awesome though. Sold a fair amount of stuff on there. Bought my wagon off there too.

Ebay owns a portion of craigslist.

I dont have fb and I'll just have to miss out on the marketplace.

Wait till marketplace starts really piling on the fees.
