Re: any telescope people out there?
I could see spending the money on an 8" but would I wish I went bigger? All I really want to see and do is photograph some nebulas and galaxies. Maybe get better pics of Jupiter and Saturn.
That night when I first saw Saturn's ring was amazing to me, I still remember it.
An 8" will give you great views of the objects you wish to see. I had a Meade LX90 SCT for about 10 years, and finally succumbed to "aperture fever", so I sold it and bought a 12.5" Obsession dob. Be careful that aperture fever doesn't get out of hand though. Some people end up with large scope capable of fantastic views but are so large and cumbersome they don't use them much. As the saying goes, "the best telescope is the one you will use".
