Thinking about selling the chevelle

Last year I put a whole whopping 50 miles on the car during summer. Car sits in the garage most of the time. Maybe taken to the cruise night less then 2 miles away on a Saturday. Think I lost interest in it.

Sell it.
I sold my last Chevelle about 1 1/2 yrs ago and don't miss any of them.
I've found other distractions to enjoy.

Re: Thinking about selling the chevelle

Havent driven mine >12 months ...too interested in other projects. But the love is still there...
Recently got my 1969 VW running/driving for first time in >10 years...Bought it when I was 19...something about still feeling those feelings from then...
I assembled my 1966 SS "clone" with Gearvendors OD, MJ 468 625HP BBC, 3.73 12 bolt posi, Baer front /rear discs, Vintage Air AC, etc etc. Not ready to sell...

Did you build it or buy it?
Is is fun to drive or not well put together?
Whats the problem with it? a 72 454 SS Chevelle is a Bad Ass ride! Why get rid of it? Not really into it anymore? Getting older?

???

I was in the same boat. Cruise nights were the same people, same cars. It was turning into a chore to get the car out. I sold it. I don't regret it. I still liked the car, I just wasn't in love with it anymore.

So what is the reason you don't want to drive it? Too much work to clean it? Afraid something will happen to it?

Need to find an excuse to drive it and have fun with it.

Ever been to the racetrack? Take it for a test & tune night and put the big pedal down like it was meant to.

Easy to rekindle interest in cars but you have to use them or it's just garage art.

Re: Thinking about selling the chevelle

it's easy to lose interest in these old cars when you have other projects or hobbies. personally I prefer to drag home orphaned project cars and throw them back together and get them back on the road. Then I lose interest, sell the car and hopefully break even.
I would sell 1 of my chevelles to make room for the next project but I know if I sold it I couldnt replace it for what I would get for either of them. If you think your done with classic cars, then sell it. jim

I haven't driven mine this year(El Camino), I don't care if I don't drive it all year........I won't be selling it anytime soon.

Maybe you never had the interest in it to lose

Re: Thinking about selling the chevelle

Like Rambo said... find a excuse to drive it. My wife and I take ours out on the weekends to destination stops... restaurants, breweries, sightseeing trip. Our trips can be anywhere from 20 -30 miles to 200-300 mile overnight trips driving back highways. during the week I'll drive it to work and park in a spot I know is safe from uncaring door swingers.

Re: Thinking about selling the chevelle

If you aren't using it, aren't interested in it, sell it to someone who will use it. Although I'm retired, and don't drive everyday, I love to drive my 66 Chevelle or my 56 210, and I rotate between the 2 constantly. My Chevelle is the "shiny" car, so I don't take it to Dr's appointments where it might get the door dongs or worse, the 56 is a straight, faded paint car that I can and do park about anywhere. The 56 has been on the road since September and has 6500 miles on it so far. Yup, I drive my old stuff. I've probably been in my wife's Tahoe twice in the last 3 months.

I'm in pretty much the same boat with my '65 Bel Air station wagon and my '61 Bel Air Sport Coupe (2dr ht). The wagon is my daily - hardware store, O'Reilly's, grocery store, all of it - rain or shine. Multiple round trips from Little Rock, AR to Dallas, TX to visit family. The Sport Coupe is the weekend/fair weather cruiser - car shows, date night, etc. Sometimes I get it out just to smoke the tires all the way up the freeway on ramp near my house, then turn around at the next exit and put it right back in the garage!

If it's a solid, running car that you can't find an excuse to get out of the garage, I'd let it go.

Re: Thinking about selling the chevelle

I went through the same thought for years. But now all my kids are gone and working a little smarter I find myself in the shop 8-10 hours a day trying to finish my chevelle.
Living in Chicago you only have 7 or 8 months to drive it, how many miles did you drive it the year before? If it's a financial thing sell it. If it's just a car to you sell it, tons of people would love to own and enjoy it.

You shouldn't need an excuse or reason to drive it, it's a want jmo
