Some of you are heading for a vacation, if you keep it up. My suggestion would be to get back on the original topic.

So, does anyone have any guesses what the maximum tow rating will be on this truck?? Acceleration numbers?? Quarter mile time?? Range?? The truck actually isn't hideous, so that is a plus.

I'm not sure about Tesla but I did invest in this a couple years back. We'll see how it develops. Atlis truck

The 500 mile range is pretty impressive. I am presuming that will be unloaded with no towing. The 15 minute charge time I think will only be for about 50% range - I don't think the technology is there yet for a full charge in that short amount of time.

Geezzz I thought this post was about Tesla's new pickup. Not some left wing vs right wing crypto scientists.

I guess for a subset of truck drivers they have just replaced the family sedan; for them I guess this is an alternative.
Although all truck mfg's are in a bragging contest over towing capacity, i would have to agree most run of the mill F150, Ram whatever, and Chevy/GMC wawachamightcallit, mostly carry people and sports gear or something.

We have 2 salesman at work that always get 4 door, 4WD company pickups. The heaviest thing they put in their bed would be duck decoys when they go hunting. No company items will ever see the bed of those trucks. They drive a lot of miles. Why we continue to buy them P/U's when a Ford Escort that gets 40 mpg is more suited to their needs, is beyond me.

Honestly, I don't think the tow rating matters much. Most half ton trucks are way over 10k tow capacity, even if they can't use it all.

We bought a travel trailer last year that has a 6000 lb GVWR. Well within the 10.7k limit of my f150. However, my truck has a cargo capacity of 1800 lbs, and it will be overloaded before the trailer gets that heavy. If you go by a 10% min tongue weight, I'll be at 600 min. More like 750 realistically. Add 500 lbs for me, my wife, and some luggage, and that leaves about 5-600 left for everything else. Throw a dirtbike, generator, some water jugs, and toolboxes in the bed, and I'm at the limit of carrying capacity. The Tesla will have to have well over 2k capacity if they want class leading tow ratings.

For my use, no way do I want the tesla. It won't get me 600 mile in a day drive on camping trips without recharging. And where we go, you won't find car chargers. It will be interesting to see the acceleration numbers, but i dont need a truck any faster than my 3.5 ecoboost...it's plenty fast. Also, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.... and I haven't seen any tesla yet that looks good to me at all. This truck so far is no different....
