So, I ain't dead :)

Well, here I am again. Big as life and TWICE as ugly. Thought I'd drop by here and say Hi and see what's going on. Looks like some progress on some projects and some non-progress on some others. Good to see TC hasn't changed

The move was crazy. Stupid me decided to go AROUND Ohio just on principle, and it turns out, a completely full 26' moving truck pulling a trailer that's carrying a 5000#SUV does NOT like hills. There were some hills in Maryland where I was going 30 at the top. But the old beat up U-Haul held up and I made it. My wife and kids were waiting since I had wife and daughter fly and son drove his car with my Dad a few days early. The last day was long. I left Indiana at 5AM and arrived in Colorado Springs about 1AM. Got that all sorted out and managed to find a job after a couple of weeks. Fortunately my parents have a huge house and are letting my fam stay until we get our feet under us. Which is beginning to happen.

We close on a new (to us) house on 2/28. Bonus: Pretty good size garage. Gonna have to fill it up with something. I can't wait to get something in there and bug you guys and show off with ya.

Don't blame you. Ohio is the butthole of the US.

👍🏻 Good luck with everything. I know exactly which hills in Maryland. My suburban towing a 6x10 trailer loaded up was struggling too lol.

Re: So, I ain't dead :)

Thanks guys!
It's all going good, but I just found a good deal on a 72 Elky and I can't buy it because we're a week away from closing and three away from possession! I gotta quit looking on CL

Sorry to see you leave PA Keith, but glad you are still here on TC. I'm looking forward to seeing your next project come together. Kicking any ideas on what it'll be yet?

Re: So, I ain't dead :)

Good to hear you made it without incident. I know what you are saying about those rental moving trucks. My daughter and her husband made a move from the sub base in Groton, CT to Norfolk, VA in a 26' U-Haul towing a Toyota Camry and it was the same situation slowing to sub-forty mph speeds going up mild uphill grades.

So, Colorado Springs! That's Mark Jones aka VortecPro territory.

I wasn't sorry to leave there 19 years and 9 months was WAY too long.
It took me only 2 months to find a good job, and staying with the 'rents has allowed us to save up that critical downpayment for the house, so it's been nothing but good for me. My wife's new doctors here also approved her knee replacement (said she was too young when we were in PA), so she's recovering from that now and doing great.

I will be back with another Chevelle sooner or later. I have to get one done to keep before I start any of the other ideas I have kicking around. I've already had a white 71 Elky, and a white faux71 Chevelle, so I'm thinking I need a wagon next. Probably be white with a black hood just to be different. That said, there's a lot of trucks around here. A 60s C10 longbed would fit me just fine. Lots of room under the hood for turbos too. I still like turbos.

My daughter that we left there with her husband had her baby yesterday, so there's still a little tiny baby Chevellino in PA. Yes, you may call me "Gramps" now

Re: So, I ain't dead :)

Well, the house closed! We finished up everything on Thursday and even had some cash left in the bank. We take possession on the 13th and everything starts happening on the 14th. Carpet cleaning, new bed delivery (gotta have a new bed when you get a new house, right?) and moving.

Re: So, I ain't dead :)

Let me get this straight..

1. You went through the hassle of buying a new place, packing up and moving.
2. You did it to a place that has or gets S N O W.
3. ... and you hate Ohio?

If or when I move it will be to a place eternally sunny.

I think Colorado (at least Eastern Colorado) is pretty sunny. Roughly 300.days a year of sun.
