I don't want a back brace.

Anybody know what the scam is behind that call?
We must get 4-5 calls a day for a back brace or knee brace, it's just a recording & from various spoofed numbers, most being local.

Re: I don't want a back brace.

I don't think it's a "scam"... but just a fly-by-night company..."no cost to you"... selling a couple POS hulks of plastic, and sending an overpriced bill to Medicare that just rubber stamps the invoice. More fleecing of the system...

We get the same calls a couple times per week. They say we "requested the information".....

When I works, I works hard.
When I sits, I sits loose.
When I thinks, I falls asleep.

My wife keeps getting calls for student loan consolidation. Her student loans have been paid off for a decade.

My father tells me I was born 30 years too late.

Re: I don't want a back brace.

I keep getting scam calls for my car and truck's extended warranty. That's strange because my car is a 2003 and my truck is a 2004. I must have one hell of a warranty for them to want to extend it even longer.

I just tell the extended warranty company's that my summer car is a Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder and my winter vehicle is an Audi Q5s,they hang up pretty fast. Don't own either one of course.

Re: I don't want a back brace.

Keep it simple. Don't answer ANY calls that you don't know whom is on the other end. The more you answer the more calls you get. Also when buying something on line and ask for a telephone number I usually give them a wrong number. In the rare case they want to contact you it would be through email/etc. They just want to sell that phone info. If you don't have caller id get it. If the call is someone you know they will leave a message. I rarely answer my landline or my cell for that matter as get almost as many on my cell.

I usually get two of those calls a day on my cell phone and I have a 99 Crown Vic.
Some guy calls on the land line and almost doesn't speak English good enough to understand, when says something about my computer, I say I don't have one and he hangs up.

For a long time I was letting the fax machine answer on the fifth ring thinking that maybe they would think maybe it's just a fax number and remove it from their list but I got tired of all the ringing and now I answer and lay the phone down trying to waste as much of their time as I can.

EVERYBODY wants your money using all kinds of scams imaginable.

Now the things coming to light recently is setting mileage back on vehicles for sale and tow trucks listening to police scanners, rushing to accidents, telling the owners that their insurance company sent them and then refusing to take them anyplace except their impound lots and charging them $1,000.00 to get it back.
One tow company here is connected to a body shop so he can continue to scam the vehicle owners.

sorry for getting off the subject of phone scammers.

Re: I don't want a back brace.

Geeeezzzzz.... I get four or five calls daily from local spoofs for vehicle warranty and credit card consolidation. Yesterday I got my first orthopedic brace call. What a load of crap. I wish cancer for the people who run these “businesses.”

Re: I don't want a back brace.

I once got a call from a company selling basement waterproofing with a no cost no obligation free inspection. About 95% of the homes around here have basements and nd I have a very dry and sound one. But I told the caller I lived in a trailer and suddenly he no longer wanted to talk to me.

Re: I don't want a back brace.

Telescammers are definitely one of the lowest forms of life. I've always ignored the calls and even told other people for years to not answer #s they don't know. Well, after reading some articles, I realized that what we all should be doing is wasting as much of their connect time as possible -- THAT'S WHAT COSTS THEM MONEY! They ought to stop once they can't actually make any money.
