I've been thinking lately about not even logging onto fakebook anymore, with all the "WE WANT YOUR MONEY pages, downright silly stuff, lack of grammar and lies (not to mention constant politics) but it is great for keeping in contact with old friends plus I want to monitor my own Chevelle page https://www.facebook.com/groups/328278119565/.

As far as Chevelle facts go, I gave up on arguing with those people long ago.
I suppose they just want to help others and think they know but they should just leave it up to the king of Chevelle information, Dale McIntosh and recommend his books.

BTW, I like you and your wife's matching suites Steve.
I've never been on Farcebook, a conscious choice. Knowing now how Zuckerberg has sold people's personal information and lied to congress about it, I made the right choice.

Oh the horror. I would ALWAYS send people to this forum. I would be like: Hey, theres thing called a forum, go to chevelles. com and your question has already been answered there 1,000 times. Theres even detailed writeups and pictures on how to do this stuff." Most people wouldnt listen, and some would even argue with me. Completely ridiculous. Its one of the main reasons I quit Facebook for good.

It certainly won't hurt. Another avenue for customers. Get someone who is familiar with FB to help you out.

Re: Chevelle facebook groups

Looks like it's worth a try, I did try CL when I started my business 9 years ago along with a Super Page online add and phone book add and what a waste of time all that was lol, I finally was telling those people to bring me their a/c units to diagnose for FREE then they'd say "We can't it's hooked to the house" my response was well I cant drive there and look at it for free and most still didn't get it, and my ad was $65 diagnostic fee with 1st hour of repair included, they still wanted me to come to their house, tell them the problem and price to repair then they decide if they want to try to fix it themselves which I'm all for fixing things on your own home but don't expect me to come to your home (when I don't even know you) and diagnose the problem lol, guess I got off topic, sorry guys

I do hop on Facebook and give folks a dose of reality - daily! That what masters of reality do - prove its FAKEbook, but civilly.

Re: Chevelle facebook groups

wow, this thread really took off!. So as others have said, I really use it for the marketplace now. There are some pretty good deals on it (except for the two monte ss's by me). I have been is "arguments" in the past and it was a waste of time. Like previously said, I do enjoy watching the "train wrecks". As Dean pointed out. it has divided many because people are not allowed to have objecting opinions anymore.

I do the same thing Smitty, even at shows. It surprises me guys still don't know about the site. This site helped build my car, and when stuck, its worth waiting to get the right info.

I do go on one of the chevelle facebook pages. I like seeing pictures of everyone's cars. There are some big names from this site that go there.

I do ZERO, ABSOLUTELY ZERO, social media stuff. Yes, I am on a couple of other Chevy forums, but these forums, and stuff like facebook, are totally different.
Although, I must admit that from time to time there is incorrect information (or incomplete information) posted here.

Re: Chevelle facebook groups

Back when I was into Turbo Dodge stuff (Shelby Chargers, Rampage...) I joined an email list. It was amazing the information that passed to everyone. Then online forums became popular and it died out, I couldn't appreciate this format back then, but honestly, I can't think of a better one now. I have joined forums for most of my cars, but this one is the only one I ever look at or participate in for the last couple years since I got the El Camino off my dad.

Thats funny, I asked if theres a car scene in a certain town and everyone says "go to facebook"
Not.....that is one big information gathering machine.

Tried signing up once and attracted abunch of wackjobs, some of the "clients" at the lockup I used to work at were looking me up....people I dont know wanting to be friends..what? Dont have time for it, no interest.

I Imagine if you promoted abiz that may be helpful
The need for attention, friends you dont know, that phone beeping all the time creeps me out.
Every woman I know is addicted to it and use the PM function to screw around, beware.
The web has some great stuff on it but in a way is also the devils tool. I sound like an old guy huh? Maybe all that prune juice had something to do with it. My butt hurts.

Haha, you do sound very much like an old guy, but you are right. Our addiction to technology is getting way out of control. People cant even sit at a stoplight without looking at their phone anymore. Ive even noticed a lot of senior citizens texting in driving lately! I wish we could go back in time about 15 years because In my opinion we had just enough technology, but not too much.

Re: Chevelle facebook groups

On the news here yesterday, they were talking about social media and fake/false news that get spread daily. They said the age group most likely to post misinformation is the age 65 and up.

My sister is probably one of the worst offenders. I think she believes that if it's on facebook it's true.

Re: Chevelle facebook groups

Having said that, my own counterpoint to my neg opinion of FakeBook is some of the pages are decent, like the 66-67 Restoration page, or the Chevelle addicts one Sal runs.

Ya, its sort of funny how we allow the FANG mega cos to sodomize us without protection or lube, and dont really care - like we liked being hijacked, as we sure as heck aren't punching back and screaming. ??? Bleed out your data America, like your political system, it is up for auction. And we were worried about the NSA? Sheeeeet.........they may be the only thing that saves us.

Re: Chevelle facebook groups

I made the decision to go off there this weekend. Made it over a year without FB and it's time again. Had fun the last 3 months posting some of my automotive adventures but in the end,I should have kept up my self imposed ban. Damn place is too distracting.
