Re: Stinger hood scoops on chevelles?

The stinger hood was standard on Motion performance Vetts and Chevelles. It was there signature just like Yenkos with there stripes.

I like the Stinger Hood on 68-69. Was considering getting one before I sold my '69.

Re: Stinger hood scoops on chevelles?

I personally prefer the SS hods on 66-67 and the CI hoods on the 70-72 cars.
I would LOVE TO SEE an aftermarket (steel) hood with REAL cowl induction for the 68-69 cars.
For folks with a 70-72 car, adding a CI hood is TOOOOOOOOOOOOO EASY! Just bolt it on the hood hinges, and if desired, all the associated CI parts can be added. That's what I did to our 70 Malibu conv.

We had VFN make a special run of these stinger hoods that used the underneath of a stock steel hood as part of a new mold to show the "webbing". We also gave them the corvette insert to make sure that fit correctly. Their "catalog" stinger hood does not have this underneath feature and the insert does not fit.
Also, I later added hood pins which helped pull the sides down to line up with the fenders. I also used 68 hood hinges with fiberglass specific springs.

I could probably get some more made if anyone wants to contact me through a PM.

Re: Stinger hood scoops on chevelles?

they can look nice
the ss-hood is understated
there are cowl ind hoods like the z28 style
i have a L88 style hood for the clearance, you can still see over it BTW..
