Electronic Anti Theft Device / Lojack Question

Does anyone make a Lojack type system that runs on regular AA or AAA batteries? For those cars that don't have an engine and in the restoration stage? My buddy is restoring a 68 Chevelle and has it in a storage unit so I was asking him if about maybe getting a Lojack type device that would track it in case it were to get stolen.... Maybe that's a million dollar idea. Someone invent a system that runs on AA or AAA batteries and had a downloadable app. That way you can track it on your phone....

Just a question....

$20 for GPS tag: https://www.thetileapp.com/en-us/how-it-works

It won't alert you. but you can track it if it goes missing.

The TILE is not really viable in this situation. It is Bluetooth, and relies on a cell phone nearby with the tile app. So if you lose something at home, your phone can find it. If it is out in public, it relies on someone random nearby having the app installed on their phone.

Re: Electronic Anti Theft Device / Lojack Question

GPS tracking devices are popular for heavy equipment like bulldozers and so on. There are quite a number of companies that make these. And some follow up with a close range radio signal from the tracker that has better precision than the GPS once the general location has been found. Youtube has some videos about these. I think how they work is that you call the tracker company when you find that the item has been stolen. Their guys track it down and work with the police.
Some from England, and we probably have the same thing here.

They do have them, however the range is very short, and you would have to know it was moving/be in range when it happened. I have one to track my dog if he should get to wandering.

Ideas are like children: there are none so wonderful as your own.
