3 guys 1 car lots of parts. Opinions
Ok so we all like fast things and I like old school as do a couple buddies.
We all have parts.
The engine we will be using is a 350 chevy 4 bolt main and heads are Chinese 220 cc runner 64cc chambers.
They have 2.02-1.60 valves and will be gone through to make correct.. then topped with a dual 4 tunnel-ram.
I will have the heads flowed and may do some runner entry epoxy.
I just hate the width beside the pushrod pinch at the opening.. looks all wrong like the air must start at this wide opening then make a sharp turn around the pushrod.
Fill the area before the pushrod basically. Spit balling here.
Now You say 350" and 220 cc heads.
I think with the 260+ duration @ .050 cam and .560+ lift on a 106 LSA it should be ok.
And running a Coan 4500 stall converter in a TH 350 trans.
Car is a 1978 Nova at 3000 lbs and has a 9" with 4.57 gears and a spool.
It has been high 11's @ 115 with a 357" and old 292 comp cam and 305 heads 601 castings on 91 octane Naturally aspirated. 1.6 60 foot with 2400 converter.
If the 220cc heads do not move enough air to make me happy there is always the 601 heads.. 1.94-1.50 valves in them and 7/16 studs.. they flat work well. Lot of porting I have done to them and chamber work.
This is a solid flat tappet build.
Block just came out of the vat today.
Car is sitting waiting.. converter in my shed. Trans is ready. Got many carbs and 2 tunnel-rams.
Headers and everything.
But do need pistons and may use the GM 5.7 rods and cast crank.
I have never had any issues to 7800+ rpm(seen 8500 a couple times) with cast crank 2 bolt main and stock rods.
One guy wanted aftermarket rods.
We have not nailed down a piston yet. It will need to be a dome to get compression above 11:1 and I was thinking 5, 6 or 7 cc dome would do it nicely. Again 64cc heads and Aluminum.
Do I need more compression than 11.8 or 11.5 to really make it work.
Has anyone done one like this?
