Re: Ever forget how old you are?

The car isn't that high just to get the transmission out. It's got to be that high so I can get my stomach under it too. They didn't put that poll in the middle of the garage just to hold the roof up. First open car door use the sill to get up part way grab poll and get up the rest of the way.

If I could remember my birth date, I could do the math.

When I works, I works hard.
When I sits, I sits loose.
When I thinks, I falls asleep.

Re: Ever forget how old you are?

When I am getting out from under one of my 70s, Yea, Its a lot harder today than a few years ago. Slide out from under the car, Roll off of the creeper, Get on one knee, Reach up and grab for a door handle ( love my 70 Wgn. lotsa door handles to grab) Get up and make dam sure I have all the tools on the floor so I dont have to ( climb up the side of my wagon) & do this again.
Last summer when I installed my Rebuilt & powder coated upper and lowers C. Arms & new springs on my wagon. I remember doing this job many times. When I was 50 or 60 it was not that tough, When your 77, A lot of that work starts to get hard to do.
When I start doing some serious GRUNT work, YES, I remember I am 77.
Its like I tell my wife : I am not as good as I once was, BUT,,,, I am GOOD once as I ever was !

Re: Ever forget how old you are?

Just today I called my parents to wish them a Happy Anniversary. That's when Dad says....so that means you will be 55 soon. I had to do the math and come to the conclusion that I am an old fart with a young mind and young ambitions.

....this is SO true.

One reason I bought a 4 post lift. But now I keep bangin' my head when walking under the lift.

Re: Ever forget how old you are?

I'd like to forget how old I am but my body keeps reminding me. Yeah getting out from under a car and up off the floor isn't easy, but as long as I can still do it I guess I'm lucky. I hate it when I get all the way under a car with all the tools I think I'll need then realize I need something else. Two or three times in a row gets really old.

Yeah, Von, I had that problem when I changed the oil and greased my '06 GMC one-ton flatbed on Saturday. I can faintly recall when all this was no problemo....

Re: Ever forget how old you are?

Sometimes I have to think about it... Not that I actually forget, but that I feel younger than I really am...

Seriously, I am having trouble looking in the mirror. Despite the minor aches and pains, I still feel like I am 18 (in my mind). I wouldn't pass as "young", but the last few years I have really begun to look old... Seriously, I used to look in the mirror and think I looked pretty good for late 40's, maybe even pass as early 40's ( and many others told me so)... But now early 50's, I can't even see the late-40's guy anymore...

Thank goodness I still think my wife looks pretty young (she's the same age as I am)...

Once you go RAT, you never go back...

Re: Ever forget how old you are?

I don't have a problem remembering how old I am.

I am 39 and holding on tight. Have been for many years.

Re: Ever forget how old you are?

My Mother is 88 and we asked her how old she is...Well, she asked 'Am I 60 yet?' She can't quite remember things very well anymore. Long term memory is great, short term not quite up to par anymore.
