Are the pistons New? I used that Manley piston in a 427+.030. The motor had all most 14:1 compression with an Old set of Diamond Engineering (Butch Elkins) ported 188 Iron heads. When you get ready to use them and check the piston to deck heights. You will see the flat surface quench part was machined on a slight angle. Do Not cut that out. That helps force the combustion gasses over to the exhaust valve. I should have bought another set and a 454 set as well at the time. That was back in the mid-80's.
