First determine if your car is at stock ride height. If the springs are sagging just replacing with new stock coils will raise the car.
I raised a 68 up about 2 inches over stock ride height by using big block springs in the front and wagon springs in the rear. There is also a thick rubber spacer available that goes in the top spring pocket. Anything inserted in between the coils is trouble waiting to happen.
