Lean and Hungry!

This is an SS 396, a Chevelle that's swallowed a snootful of Turbo-Jet V8- 396 cubic inches of it- with ratings of 325, 360 or 375 horsepower. The 325 rating is standard; the other two you have to specify because they cost extra. But it bears mentioning at this point that the 375-horsepower job endows the SS 396 with a power-to-weight ratio of 9.4-1. And that, performance fans, is hardly what you'd call unimpressive. Of special interest, too, is the fact that every SS 396 swings fright from the factory with stiffer springs and shocks, a bigger front stabilizer bar, special frame reinforcements and a set of red stripe tires on wide-base wheels. Know what? You're beginning to look a bit lean and hungry yourself.
Do drive an SS 396 at your Chevrolet dealer's.
Performance the Chevrolet Way.
