64 & 65 Wagons

1964 and 1965 Wagons are very similar, as you can see in the examples below. During the years of 64 and 65, Chevrolet had several versions of wagons. They were available in two and four door versions (the tailgate "door" doesn't count). They could be ordered with just about any option a person could desire.

One thing should be noted here, all of the 2 door wagons were the base model chevelles. Heck, they weren't even called chevelles, just "300 series". Chevy would allow you to order up just about anything you wanted to pay for.

Don Edmonds aka: Bottlerat's 64;

        Don has a 1964 2 door wagon with a BES 496 Big Block in it. It sports a .060 over bored 4 bolt main block, a steel 4 1/4" stroke crank, sealed power pistons a Comp HYD. roller cam, a set of 049 oval port heads, a Edlebrock Performer RPM intake, A Holley 950HP carb. It has a Turbo 400 trans with a 3600RPM stall converter. A 12 bolt rear end with 4:11 cogs in it. He live in Cincinnati, Ohio and found this car in Beaver Creek Ohio. The guy he bought the car from told him that the car spent most of it's life in Arizona as a Drag Car where he had bought it. He then moved to New Hampshire and then to Beaver Creek Ohio. He tends to believe his story as the car is Very Solid which as you know is unusual for these cars. He also found little tell tail signs of a drag racer on the car.

        Don is in the process of replacing the interior and plans on doing a total frame off restoration after he retires and moves to Florida in 2006. Those plans include painting it back to the original color of Silver Blue Metallic with a white top, and a 2" cowl hood and a set of Weld Draglite Wheels.

Boris' 65 project

There are no limits to what can be done to a wagon (except for what your banker or SO will allow). This a photo of the wagon that Boris started with. It's currently being worked on in a major way!

This next photo shows the four link and narrowed sub-frame holding a Ford 9 inch.

When done, this should be real nice.

Note, I was sent other photos that due to limited web space and the fact that they were rather dark, I can't post.

He can be contacted by clicking here. (verified 2/26/04)

Wes Vann's wagon (aka Murphy)

Well, I own one of these things too!! It's not quite finished yet, but here is a photo.

It's in reality, a 64 with a 65 front clip. I have a 350 engine and TH350 trans. The front suspension is a Global West tall spindle conversion that uses 72 Chevelle spindles and disk brakes. The power steering was blue printed and modified by Lee Manufacturing for ratio and feed-back. The dash has a full set of Autometer Phantom gauges (including tach). The list goes on quite a bit.

Brody's 65, aka 65 wagonman,

            This beautiful 65 two door is a 327 L79 look-a-like. It is an original V8 car, has front disc brakes, rear drum, 355 posi and a 700R4. Brody says that makes this car a great cruiser.  Brody can be reached in Indy at: click here.(verified 2/26/04)

Tim Fuller's 65,

      Purchased from original owner who ordered it to drag race in the late 60's & early 70's in Southern California. 300hp. 327ci. 4sp. 12 bolt factory black with red interior. Plus he gave me some of the trophies he won with the car. Still waiting to get some of the photos. It is rumored that Hotrod Mag did a story on dragstrips in SoCal. in the late 60's It showed this car lined up against a 58 Chevy. Not front page stuff, just an article. Any info if anyone who knows the month and year of the mag would be apreciated. The original engine is long gone. But I still have the trans. It has a 66 327 in it now and is a blast to drive. I just need to save a few pennies to get the rest in shape. It took seven years of pleading for him to part with it but persistence pays. And no its not for sale.
