Nickey Chevrolet in Chicago built and tuned Chevrolets starting with the early 1960's. Nickey put the new 396 into Chevy II's as well as 1965 Chevelles. In 1967 Nickey was the first to put the 427 into the new Camaro. Nickey teamed with Bill Thomas and Dick Harell to build some of the wildest street and drag cars available. Nickey did not order COPO vehicles and add decals like Yenko. Nickey built the motors and installed them to owner specs as did Baldwin-Motion. Nickey ran a full line performance shop offering anything chevy from a crate L-88 to Nickey custom mag wheels. The usual Nickey / Bill Thomas tuned 396 was rated at 425-450hp. The L-34/35 upgrade included an aluminum intake, Holley 780, headers, ignition system, cam (several to choose from), dress up package.
