1968: Much like the Chevelle line, the radios were redesigned for a newer look this model year. One example of this is the radios boasted less chrome when installed in the dash. The "basic" radio one could order was the AM pushbutton, as there was no longer a manual tune radio option.

The bezels on the 1968 units had more of a darkened out area and less chrome than previous years. Other radios from the same model year are often mistaken for Chevelle radios due to their similarity. Chevelle radios can be identified by their bezels which do not slant outward toward the top of the dial. (See Mistakes). The dial numbers and the word Delco in script writing (located below the "14" and the "16") have a very light green tint to them. This was also the only year where the AM dial scale had all even numbers.

The same basic bezel design was used for the 1968 AM/FM units. It would be the last year a chrome slide bar (AM/FM switch) would be used on a Chevelle radio. The dial numbering had a very light green tint just like the AM units, but Delco written in script was placed in the far upper right-hand corner of the dial.

1968 FM Multiplex Adapter

Delco model number: 7304621

When connected to the AM/FM radio, FM stereo broadcasts can be received. The four knobs on the adapter control volume, tone, balance, and front-rear (fader). The center stereo indicator illuminates when a stereo station is tuned-in on the radio.
