1967: This model year's radios saw little change from the previous year, however, important visual design revisions took place. Also during this model year, the Chevelle 8-track tape player option debuted.

1967 AM PUSHBUTTON RADIO

Delco model number: 986853

The 1967 AM pushbutton radio looks almost identical to the 1966 model. The same sloping front chrome bezel was used. The word "CHEVROLET" is printed above the dial scale just like its 1966 counterpart. Almost identical, but not quite. The 1967 units have pushbuttons that differ from the 1966 units. Although the buttons are ribbed on the tips like the previous year, they were now had a rounded contour to them.

Close inspection of the radio will tell you whether it is a 1966 unit or a 1967. The pushbuttons on a 1966 radio will be straight and flat. Each button will be "ribbed" on the tip. The pushbuttons on a 1967 will also be ribbed on the tip, but will also a have a rounded contour to the front of the button. See the difference?

1967 AM/FM PUSHBUTTON RADIO

Delco model number: 986854

The 1967 AM/FM units look very similar to the 1966 units. For the 1967 model year, the slide bar (am/fm switch) was produced with a rounded contour tip. The pushbuttons also differed (see the above description). Delco was still placed above the dial window on the right-hand side. (Please note this radio is shown inside the dash.).

1967 FM MULTIPLEX ADAPTER

Delco model number: 7300941

When connected to the AM/FM radio, FM stereo broadcasts can be received. The four knobs on the adapter control volume, tone, balance, and front-rear (fader). The center stereo indicator illuminates when a stereo station is tuned-in on the radio.
