I am having my 70 SS painted and I have tried unsuccessfully to locate the correct dimensions for the hood & decklid stripes. I am aware of the Year One stripping kit but have seen these on other cars in the past and wasn't satisfied with the results. My stripes are going to be painted on instead of using the vinyl stripes. Does anyone know where to locate this information so that I can pass it along to the body shop? Thanks in advance for any info!

Year One DOES HAVE the exact factory stencil kit
for painting on stripes, to accurately reproduce the same appearance for your 70 SS instead of the vinyl.

I used the stencil kit, that was mentioned in the previous answer, with great results. It was made by a company called STENCILS AND STRIPES and they specialize in this type of product. Good luck.

Look in the Chevelle factory assy manual. It shows the dimensions for the stripes. Two dimensions were used. 197o SSs used two different setd of dimensions. DImensions were changes the 1st week of April 1979. Cars with a build date before the 1st week of April 1970 used the first set and those with a later builod date used the 2nd. All 1971-72 SSs used the 2nd set. Repro stripe stencils are usually the 71-72 dimensions and are incorrect for early 1970.
