Thumbs up Disc brake conversion ( Frankenstein!)

Dear guru's of the chevelle..... I am a 22 year old student trying to convert my front drums to disc for my 69 convertible . THe problem is this. I have to install the whole thing: disc brakes, calipers spindle, etc., but use existing front brake lines. Right now I am trying to get my old brake lines to meet up with the new proportioning (distribution) combination valve. The problem is that I got the disc brakes and everything that comes with it from a 71 GTO (that's what the guy who sold it told me). THe lines arn't meeting with the master cylinder, or the proportioning valve.

If you could help me with this problem, then I could get my car off the hoist and start enjoying it again. Thanks Jeff.

P.S I really appreciate this website. I was 19 when I bought my chevelle convertible. Me and my dad use this website when ever we want to question one of our projects. It is a great source for chevy knowledge.

You can buy a line kit for less than $100 to replace all of the front lines.

And if you can't find a kit that fits, you can buy a flaring tool and some generic brake lines and make your own custom lines. It's not too difficult to do, as long as you have a good flaring tool (i.e.: stay away from the cheapos, they are a waste of time and money, and will drive you crazy in a heartbeat). You can also bend the lines and leave the fittings off, then take them to a shop to have them flared.

Line set for your car is 65.00 for your car, comes with everything you need and will bolt right on. Without blatently violating the rules just look at my screen name and you will know that I know what I am talking about. Many on the board have used our product.
