Default front drum to disc on a 66

Just need a parts list of what is needed for this conversion, would like to stay manual brakes. I want to know what I am okay with buying used/in a junkyard, and what is absolutely necesary to buy new. Thanks very much.

Well, how much you do and how much you buy is really dependent on your budget. If I were to do it again, and I will, I'd....

1. Modify your existing spindles.
2. Buy from our sponsor the caliper brackets.
3. Buy from your favorite local parts house, rotors, loaded calipers and incidentals
( bearings, dust caps, nut, washer, pin etc)

If you are running 14 inch wheels and you don't want or can't modify your spindles, you can buy from our sponsor the spindle, caliper, gravel sheild kit for like $250. IF you are running 15 inch wheels the gravel sheilds look funny. IMHO

Brake lines and master cylinder are best bought new.

Hope this helps

do you have to buy a new master cylinder when going from drums to disks? and why is that? cant you just get a new prop valve.

also, do you have to use a powerbooster on disk brakes, or can you run it manual. reason why i ask is because, i can get some front disk spindles, and the stuff i need to do the swap from a buddy, but i just bought a new MC for drums a few months back.

one reason the disk MC is different is that you displace alot more fluid with the calipers and as your brakes wear the reservoir would empty much quicker
as for your master - just replace it
also (and this part I am not positive about) they don't make a disk MC with a pushrod that hooks to the pedal
as far as I know the MC's were only designed to run with the power booster
(again just letting you know I am not sure about the power booster part)

i think when i plan on doing the swap, that i will just buy all new parts (well calipers, mc, booster and such).
