I've heard people say you can run a muncie with a broken ear but I'd like to hear from you guys. Mine is missing the lower left one. I'm still having a clutch chatter problem, and now i've noticed some vibration at high rpm's, and was wondering if this could be the culprit. All trans and engine mounts are in good condition and bolts are all tight.
Thanks, Jim |

You can but it would be wise to have it repaired or better yet swap in a super case. Nobody and I mean nobody has ever broken a mucie ear off from torque or hp or slicks or whatever. You could weld the tires to the ground and dump the clutch, other things would break.
You could have a bad bearing in the trans that mioght be causing the vibration but that would do it at all speeds. I would look at the drive shaft or the clutch as possibe problems areas, axle bearing could be going bad, man there are lots of things that can induce virbration. ------------------ www.muncie4speed.com Gold 67 A.C.E.S. 5602 M.C.C. 559 1967 Malibu, 2nd owner. 1971 Malibu, new rat is in. Thanks Wally, I've got another M-21 with bad gears and a good case I can swap it with. I'm going to have the driveshaft checked for balance this week.
