While cleaning my '67 El Camino frame, I came across some #'s that I am wondering about. I have identified the first set of #'s as the frame build date, but the next series of #'s I'm not sure about. Here's the #'s:12 20 66 N1CJ
3893335 s 181 I believe this is a part # (3893335) and the "S" has a circle around it, but I don't know what the N1CJ or 181 stand for. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Sonny67 |

Sonny:
I can help abit. Frame assemblies for 66 and 67 SS is the same, ther ewere two suppliers to my knowledge., Parish and A.O. Smith, and there were diffrences between the two types of frames which I don't think I will get into here. Each frame is stamped Identification and assembly date. Parish stamped it's full name or logo on the frame while Smith just used an S with a circle around it. Included with the name or logo would be the frame asembly date, the date the base frame was assemblied, these were not assemblied at the final asembly plant. A typical date code looks like yours and would read Dec. 20th 1966,, which would probably coincide closely with your vehicle assembly date, then you have your PART #....just like you thought. The rest of your #'s/letters are typical, but I am not at present able to say what they are, sorry., but check your vin # and see if you have anything in common between them Mike ------------------ MY 66 SS.COM ACES # 1493 TEAM # 751 All Chevelles Video available, e-mail me! |

Mike, Wouldn't 66 and 67 frames differ in the area of the rear spring perch? Also (FYI) A.O. Smith made the electric motor which runs my swimming pool pump.
