I have Dish network and I am a cheap ba$tard so basic programing is All I get.

One of the neat things about dish is they always run "free" channel previews all the time which are listed on # 103 in most markets.
Anyhoo, this is old news to most here but, I was paroosing the free channel and ran across a channel owned by discovery network called "velocity" # 364 I think and its pretty cool-kind of like the speed channel used to be. I'm hooked BUT unwilling to pay the premium just to get that channel-dammit.

It's not that great of a channel. Couple of okay shows but nothing I would pay extra for, JMO.

Oprah got hold of Velocity and programming has changed to more nature and vaginal type shows. Nothing against Matry Stauffer type shows, but the old all car stuff was way cooler.

Too many jungle, rain forrest, adventure hiking, etc stuff now-a days, but still good weeknights. Plus, they run the Mecum auctions which I like better than Barrett jackson.

Not the Velocity channel I get, mostly about car stuff, such as Graveyard Cars last night and West Coast Customs, etc. I have Direct TV.

they have some good stuff but you have to hunt around for it....they also re-play a lot of the old American Hot Rod shows..... Destination TV is also getting some car stuff....

No kidding. My Oprah comment was solely based on the fact that two weeks ago I was expecting to fire up the 80" LED buube tube, flip to 281 on DirecTV and see Chasing Classic Cars, Wrecks to Riches, a rerun of last years Mecum, or even just the bloody English crackers on Wheeler Dealers.

Instead, I got a one hour special on Japanese Snow monkeys. Lucky for me there was Fast N Loud two channels down on TLC.

Granted, had I watched a full hour of Japanese Snow monkeys, my vagina would have been thankful.

I like Velocity but sadly with the el cheepo cable network we have up here (can someone say Charter???) you have to pay extra for it.....

Velocity is included in my Uverse package. There's usually something interesting on...even if it is a fake deadline-based car building show.

I just saw tonight on Velocity that good old Barry Maquire and "Car Crazy" is switching to Velocity on April 2nd. I sure hope more car related programming migrates over. maybe it will push some of the fluff over to the parent Discovery Channel.
To me, "Velocity" represents "speed" - like in cars, motorcycles- (I always liked "Cafe Racer") planes and boats.....
