I'm thinking about installing tall upper and lower ball joints, and my question is, by going with both upper and lower will i get bump steer the same as if I had tall spindle or is it best to go with just one are the other?

We are currently testing tall lower ball joints with the standard spindle. Look for published data soon.

Tall uppers add spindle height with no bumpsteer effect.

Tall ball joints don't cause an increase in bump steer when using a short 69-72 a-body spindle. The problems with increased bump steer with tall spindles is inherent to the position of the tie rod connections to the tall spindles, not the height of the spindles themselves.

I was told by someone that if you use both upper and lower tall ball joints you would get the bump steer as if you had a tall spindle. Also I wondering weather I should

I have the SC&C stage2 plus with tall upper and lower ball joints on my 72, and it is one of the best modifications you could do to your car if you like to drive it hard. I have none of the problems I had with the old school tall spindles bump steer.

The setup that is known to cause bump steer is the b-body spindle. Tall ball joints will actually improve on many things including the bump steer.

One of the problems with the stock setupe is that the inner tie rod is located too high and the outer to low. When the suspension moves up and down that also move the wheels out and in according to eachother.
A taller lower balljoint makes the outer tierod sit higher than stock and therefore the arm between inner and outer tierod have less angle. This improves bumpsteer.
A taller ball joint in the top with a shorter uca imporves the static and dynamic camber curves drastically.

Our goal with testing is to show numerical data with stock tie rod location then with tall upper and lower. Hopefully it helps and the data will tell the story.

And no problems asking questions or terminology stuff. That's why we're here.

Would lowering a car with tall spindles improve bump steer? I'd think so, since the chassis, along with the inner tie rods, will move down and more in line with the outers.
