Default comp cam 280 magnum or 286 magnum bbc

With L2240 pistons and 702 heads milled .020-.025 I should have over 9.5 compression. Should I go with the 280 magnum cam or the 286 magnum.
Running 4 speed 373 gears dual 500 edebrocks.

what displacement is the engine? what car (weight of car)? and what intake?

I thought about the comp cam 286 magnum or the 292 magnum in my 496 bbc for my 1967 Chevelle, T400, 3200 stall with 3.73s- my engine builder recommended the Comp Cam xtreme energy series 290s- (solid lifter flat tappet cam) based on my set up of car and engine: 496 ci, GM 188 heads, 10:1 compression, edlebrock air gap with a holley hp 850 cfm- made 638 hp at 6500 rpm, 629 ft lb torque at 4500 rpm at 36 degree timing and 80 in the primary and 90 in the secondary- still putting the car together so I don't have any time slips yet

Same setup except with 4.11s that I had in my '67 last year.

I ran the 280h in a 396 a couple years ago .I built it for a buddy in a 3/4 ton truck with 456's
ported iron heads and more than 10.5 compression cranking pressure is 200psi to 210psi.

It pulls really hard to 6500 where i get valve float..running a strip dominator intake and 800cfm carb....
The valves are 2.19-1.88 and seat pressure on the springs are set up at 120lbs

I feel to take advantage of even this cam with the heavy valves the seat pressure needs to be higher.. possibly 130 or 140...she showed no signs of falling off...

You start getting into those pressures and i feel might as well go solid lifter..
Gary 72 that is a good HP number you got, should be fun....

I have ran the 280h in a 350 and shifted that at 7200
and the 292H was even better for making power in the small 350's

If you want to rev it a little more and have adequate spring pressure and clearance on everything then go for the larger stick
