Default 1967 Chevelle... Fair price?

Greetings,

Apologies for my first post just asking for assistance, but as I don't own one yes I have never made the transfer from lurker to an active user... I am looking at a potential purchase and was hoping for some guidance, any help would be greatly appreciated! Just looking for a fair deal, I dont mind paying what a car is worth... just dont want to end up spending more than I should.

Ok... here are the details...

http://photobucket.com/tweist1967
1967 Chevelle - SS Clone..
All receipts on the build in hand.
Good Paint (there are a few minor flaws, as it has been driven for 5 years or so since resoration)
Split bench seat. Interior is perfect and the motor runs flawless.
Brand new carb and MSD distributor just tuned(ignition advance curve and jetting).
Balanced .030 over 350 with elgin cam(with receipts) and long tube headers sound great.
Turbo 350 w finned aluminum pan shifts firm but not hard.
Factory 12 bolt rear with yukon 31 spline axles.
Drives beautifully.
Cross drilled & slotted rotors up front, power steering and power brakes. EVERYTHING works, including analog clock inside.
This car has no air conditioning.

Thanks again.. even a price range would help me out a lot.

1st that is far from a clone. Nothing there SS except badges. I would call it a custom. If the car is done right I would say 12,000 max.

That's an odd looking 67 to me. I was thinking $12k max too steve, I would just keep looking for another one,

Unless you really want a post car, I'd keep looking. Personally I think $12k would be a little generous. I'd deduct something for those wheels also

Its a 300 model 2 dr sedan, so it is not a clone SS. Ditch the wheels and I like it, but then I am prejudice when it come to 300 and 300 deluxe models.

Im thinking some where between 8 and 10k. This is if the body is solid. Obviously being a post brings the value down. Wouldnt be a bad looking car if the wheels were changed.

Hey now.... thats not very nice to be bashing on that persons air cleaner... That person or others that have an air cleaner like that could be deeply offended..... Isn't it that diversity that makes this a great hobby?

..... I won't comment on the Super Sport emblems...

BTW - Though the car in question appears to be overpriced IMO... It looks like a decent car.... $8500 should be the number....

Kind of an oddball car tweist, unless you're really hot for it and want to hang onto it forever I'd pass. It'd be hard to sell.

This is a good example of why you shouldn't spend thousands on paint and body on something you plan on selling. Nice car but its a post so you lose alot of potential buyers then you throw on some expensive modern wheel tire combo and you lose more buyers because most folks prefer the classic wheels on musclecars. So from the sellers point they can't figure out why its not selling at the asking price and most folks looking for a 67 chevelle isn't even going to call. Only thing worse is if the guy was selling a El Camino but with a elky you've got people looking for a truck. If you can get it for a decent price and you don't plan on flipping it it would be a nice car to own. Just don't expect to sell the car very easily for big bucks if you need to sell it fast in the future. Jim

I'm not an expert on 67 prices but I would think the seller is asking more than $12k for this car. I would think someone has more than that tied up in getting this car to its present condition. Not that spending a lot makes it worth more. Small block/ column shift/ not a real effort in cloning/ and very distinct wheels are not helping this car!!!! I might go as high as $14K based on the appearnce of fresh condition. What is the asking price???????? Definately agree with others that are saying dont buy it unless you love it and get a good deal. Resell could be hard once it is not so fresh anymore.

Wow, Thank you all for the responses... you all just saved me some decent money (or at least a major pain trying to resell it down the road). This is exactly why I wanted to post on a enthusiast forum, a semi-objective but educated option helps to put my emotional response a little in check!

SOO down to the meat of the question... Whats he asking?

The asking price was well above anything posted above... $16k... firm... he actually pulled it from CL becasue he was getting low offers on it and decided just to keep it. So 16k + another grand in rims (i despise them as well)... and 2k in shipping up to alaska... Yeah...

I have been looking at Chevelles for a while now, but as I am from Alaska there are not many options up here to actually see. This one just happened to be available in OR where I was heading for a trip next week and thought I would give it a look. Most of my prior searching was for a second generation anyways so honestly I did not even realize it was a 300 with ss badges.

Again, much appreciated to all who posted!
