Default my new engine test stand

Had a friend build me an engine test stand.I drew the plans and he built it from there. Works great. Fully ajustable for just about any engine.

I like most everything except the location of the gauge panel. I'd prefer the gauges at the radiator end so I can monitor the gauges without getting burned on the exhaust.

Just like my run stand, it won't work with Ford and Chrysler engines--no place to bolt the starter.

Looks cool. You should see about putting the gauges and tach where you can see them to set the timing.

No worry there,All chevy's here! All in what you get use to as far as the exhaust.

It would be nice to see water temp if you're waiting for it to warm up, oil pressure and rpm while tuning Carb for idle and timing, heck put a vacuum gauge on there too. Putting them all towards the front drivers side means all the vital signs are right there when you need them. Just saying.

Nice work on the stand but how do you plan to completely fill the cooling system with coolant? Since the radiator sits lower than the block, the thermostat housing is higher than the radiator fill neck. This would mean that you would need to fill it from the thermostat housing or am I missing something in the pics?

You are correct Tom .The pics you see were before my final ajustments. I have since lowered the engine so the thermostat housing is 1-1/2" lower than the top of the radiator. This stand is fully ajustable and sturdy for my needs.

Nice job! I think that with the engine running, the water pump would still circulate enough to burp out the air with the low radiator.
Now the big question: How do your neighbors like it?

I have since lowered the engine and it's about 1-1/2 lower than the top of the radiator. No one lives in front or behind me but the neighbors on each side come over to visit all the time.In fact I help them with their cars on occasion.
