I have to admit I would never have thought of a chopped Chevelle, but it does not look bad. I think that you have to really look at it a lot to see that it is chopped. Congrats to Pete for a really good job .

This is only the second chopped Chevelle I have seen. The other, also from Oregon, was a 67. Good job, don't like it as much as a stock Chevelle.

I saw a 68 in Redmond WA about 15+ years ago that was chopped and had a Riviera boat tail rear section grafted onto the back of it.
Looked pretty funky. Anyone ever seen that one floating around in NW Washington? |

i have mixed feelings about it;
mainly why does it sit so high with the top chopped??? i think it would look alot cooler squatted down over the wheels

My thoughts exactly. Plus if it's going to be modified as such (roof chop) then the stock look needs to go (update the wheels).

If you look at the progress pics, you can see that he was going in a different direction at first, and in my opinion, that direction would've ended up in a much more aesthetically pleasing result. He was stretching out the roof and it looks like he was going to make the side-window "cutout" longer/slimmer, which would've looked great with the lower roofline, and of course a lowered stance would've really set it off. If I remember correctly from a previous thread, Pete decided that going that direction was too much work, but agreed that if he was to do it over that would be the way to do it (stretch the roof a bit).
I would love to see one done that way, I don't have the skill to do so myself.

It looks odd since its stock height. If it were lowered on some different rims I think it would be more proportionate.
Something like: http://www.petersen.org/default.cfm?...1813&CarID=321 Still, I would have a hard time doing this to a Chevelle.

I've always thought Chevelles looked chopped as is from the factory. At least sitting in one would suggest that, since my head is an inch from the headliner and I'm not even a tall guy!

A few more...
![]() This 67 El Camino also had the bed shortened to keep the proportions intact...looked good. ![]()

I like the chevelle. Only thing thats missing is a big hairy arm holding a shifter sticking out of the sun roof. like one of those ed roth rat fink cartoons.

IMHO, there's only one way a chopped Chevelle would look good, and that's if it's REALLY LOW, has a big front air dam, has a big rear wing, has a parachute and other safety equipment, and was photographed on the salt at Bonneville.
