I cleaned my air filter today with the proper cleaner but have missplaced the oil. Have you guys used anything else as a substitute? Like atf or wd40

Haven't ever tried anything else. It's a real light oil isn't it?

I use PB Blaster. Not only does it make a great floor wax, it is also a great dessert topping.

Spectre brand has air filter oil also...I think they sell it at Auto Zone, less expensive than the K&N stuff....just an FYI

X2. Or what Steve just said. Keep it a specific oil for air filters.

I would definitely pick up the Spectre oil, I'm tired of feeding greedy K&N. Their products are usually 50-75% higher than the competition.

I just checked on AutoZone's website, looks like they now carry AIRAID air filter cleaning products as well. Appears it may even be a little cheaper than Spectre brand. I might try that when I run out of the Spectre.

It sure would be funny if you put that stuff on there and your air filter melts or something like that haha. I love k&n they are a good company with a great product.

Not sure how that would be funny, but realistically it's not going to happen...an air filter oil is an air filter oil, different brand same stuff. If K&N made one of the Tornado aircharger gimmicks, would you buy one?

Te each his own, but if I don't pay a premium price for a product unless the quality/benefits are also noticeably better than the competition. With K&N, half a dozen companies match or beat them for a lower price.
