I doubt it's real. There are way too many things wrong with it. Wrong trim on the trunk lid for starters. And why would you change the color on such a rare car?

That's not a Z16 air cleaner, nor even a Chevelle air cleaner. It's a 66-67 L79 Nova air cleaner.
Ad also doesn't say if the supposed "original Z16" motor which is NOT installed in the car goes with the car as part of the sale.

I've seen high end Z16 CLONES go for 155,000.00 dollars at Mecham's... Maybe the apprasel was low because it needs so many Z16-only parts...

It's either the worst clone I've ever seen or half the original pieces were sold off at some point....

It's 46 yrs old. Could someone have changed the color before it was known to be so rare? Guys did crazy stuff back in the day. I'm in no way saying its real, probably isn't, but in 69 ,nobody knew what that car would eventually be worth.

That's so bad it's sad... The seller has either been badly duped or they're trying to dupe an unsuspecting buyer claiming it's a real Z16.
Someone is going to have serious legal issues as well. The VIN plate is fake as well. ![]() Real 1965 KC VIN plate. The fake on the car Trim tag is home made and badly at that. Not only is spacing no where near correct, it shows a K in group 2 which is Air Conditioning. ![]() Those wanting really bad (or good depending on how you look at it) appraisals, keep these guys in mind. All I can say is ... WOW. That is the first hand-stamped cowl and VIN tag I've ever seen. Obviously, this car has either never been sold out of state, or no sharp policeman ever looked at the VIN tag.

Why would anyone take a trim tag off to restore the car. It´s been there since 65 not likely it will fall apart if you don´t put new rivets on. I will never understand that. A shame in my eyes. The photo above shows the trim tag from the author’s unrestored, never apart (until now) Z16.

{Edit} Just noticed it states the car was built the second week of April. Homemade trim tag shows 4th week of March and homemade VIN sequence doesn't match, even 04A VINs in the Z16 registry are 801 and 827. I don't know who's running the Z16 Chevelle site now but I'm sure they'll educate this person when they try to register it there. All-in-all, it's not a bad looking car - except for that hideous steering wheel. With the homemade trim tag and homemade VIN, I sure hope someone doesn't get stopped in any insurance inspection.
