Default 1970 chevelle ss questions

im new to chevelle tech so here it goes. i just purchased a 1970 chevelle ss. i got two build sheet and the pop with the car and im trying to figure out if engine, tranmission and rear end are orginal and i could use some help. the vin is13637k211857. the engine has a block repalce under warrenty in 1974 i was told. number on engine reads ce150203. does anyone think the dealer who replaced engine keep records this long so i could verify. The transmission tag has 484? (hard to read) on top. below reads 70 cf 28729. the build sheet on block no. 28 says cf. The rear end has ccw 06 8 b2. block 29 has cw on it and in the options block 107 g94 331 ratio axle. could anyone help? thanks alot!

Check out the vin codes on this site - I think you can get to them from the home page, if not someone will surely answer for you.

On the engine - it's a ce, meaning as said warranty replacement. Therefore, it CANNOT be original, nor ever considered original. Doesn't matter if it was a warranty replacement or not - it's not the engine with the vin stamped on it that came from the factory.

And - Welcome!

CF is the correct code for your trans
CCW is the code for a 3.31 open rear and I don't see G80 posi option on the buildsheet.
I doubt a dealer would keep records that far back on replacing a motor, but you never know.Bottom line, trans and rear are original, motor has been replaced.
CE code is not a bad deal to have....

The dealer was most likely Van Chevrolet which has been gone for years. (that's where my 69 came from.) My friend was a service tech there for 19 years but that was before his time.

There is another Van Chevrolet again now in another part of town which is owned by the same owner of the old dealership.
