Default Brake drums made in the USA

My Napa drums made in China are the root to my highway vibration I believe. One has a highspot or the axel hole is bored of center or something. Brake shoe has a flat spot.

Where can I get a good quality drum? I just checked the Napa website, and their drums say China on them. Too bad it took me 2yrs to figure this out, no warranty

I replace the drums on my car with new ones from NAPA and they were made in Canada. I think I paid a few $ more to upgrade from the China drums.

NAPA can be hit or miss with the USA stuff these days but the guys at the NAPA near me will tell me if I ask and often will go in the back and find what they still refer to as "the good stuff".

Might check with these guys and pick up some additional stopping power while you are at it. I am on a conference call or I would have confirmed where the drums come from. Worth checking into anyway. http://praisedynobrake.com/index.htm

Was probably a year ago. I have not driven the car yet to determine if they are out of balance. I told my buddy who runs the local NAPA the if they were made in china that I would not take them. NAPA lists a few different grades when it comes to brake parts. I have has fairly good luck with the chinese rotors on our daily drivers though. Here is a pic of the Canadian drums.

Best I was able to do was Made In Canada when I bought drums from NAPA a while back. It told him if they were from china I didn't want them.

Did the same thing at PepBoys a few months back with brake pads. There were 3 options, and I said I'll take the ones not made in china. He came back and said they all were made in china

He also said no one ever asks for non-china items, and that it was nice someone finally did (A lot of good it did though)

I always try to ask for made in USA items, even if they do cost more

Good luck!!!
I've always used Raybestos Premium pads and Super Duty rotors because they were US made.
Was told recently by the Raybestos regional rep ( a good friend) that this is no longer the case...
Now mfg'd in either China or Mexico.

If you want to get technical measure the drums and rotors with a micrometer for thickness variances and to check for out of roundness or warpage.Anything less is just a guess. If you want them perfect get them machined.

Good info. My 66 rear drums are on the list to replace, and, as noted, all of those that I have checked are imports. I may try NAPA, since these are not really cheap anywhere.

I always tell them if I wanted China parts then I'll buy them on the internet cheaper. Why should I buy Chinese parts from a local like you? See how THAT pays his rent and bills. Let the Chinese feed him.

bought some of those for my wifes Venture, the drums were ok, but the friggin chinese shoes for the rear were arched wrong and chattered like something was loose or a bearing was knocking. took em out and they were flat spotted. never again. the guy at Schucks/oriely was an ass and accused me of doing something to them.

Took a battery back there also I had bought as an extra for my boat, took it back after one week, never used it and he accused me of using it, said it was scratched on the post. told him then he better call the other store and chew em out as they sold me a used one. never will go back to that hole. gave me my money but said he would have to throw it away,,, right.

Auto zone seems to be OK here, great prices on oild right now, filter is included in the sale.
