Default Taillight housing nuts?

Does anyone know what kind of nuts to use on to attach the tail light housing? I seem to remember it taking a special kind, but mine have been off for so long I don't remember. I tried using my thread restore kit to cut some new threads and accidentally snapped a stud off.

Thanks for any help.

They are a stamped sheet metal type of a nut I think.. It's been a while since I took mine off and haven't put them back on yet. You could try ebay.

I believe they are known as "speed nuts", and as Kyle said they're made from sheetmetal. I decided to cut all mine off, drill and tap holes 1/4-20 size and used allthread and nuts with lock-washers on them instead as a few of mine were broken also. Much more secure and I can take the studs out and actually remove the housings with the bumper on if I need to....couldn't do that with the cast ones on there.

I tried Lowe's and Home Depot and couldn't find anything. I guess I'll go back and look a little harder.

Thanks for the reply's.

Any hardware store that has a fastener isle will have them. Very common item. Your jobber can get them. Most deal with Auveco, one of the largest fastener suppliers. Ask a bodyshop, we had more than we knew what to do with.
