Any plans to offer any body parts for Chevelles in aluminum?
The next Q, if in the affirmative, is naturally: When? If aluminum body parts were a choice, I'd never buy another piece of stamped "tin" again...ever. You've got a gigantic pool of potential clients for aluminum body components... right here on Chevelles.com. -------------------- |

Fenders & hoods first, then chromed aluminum bumpers, trunk lids & radiator supports, inner fenders quarterpanels & doors.
Performance, MPG, Rust-Proof!!! What a product! Something for everyone!! Make them! We'll buy them!!!!!!!!! Our Chevelles also deserve aluminum body panels, not just Fox-bodies & Camaros. |

Omigawd!
Would I loves me some ALUMINUM BODY PARTS all over my Chevelle!!!! Hood first, then fenders and fenderwells, then polished aluminum bumpers, then doors, then... Just say when!! If you make them, Chevelle owners will keep you busy for a longgggg time. We've got just as much money as the Camaro guys, & more than the Mustang 5.0 guys. Shouldn't we have aluminum body parts also??? |

Well said! Please, at the very least, an aluminum 2" cowl hood would be a nice start. |

Interesting. The Carbon Fiber body panel thread got more response than this. Never thought I'd see that any time soon.

I can believe it. Currently carbon fiber is the lightest material to make body parts from. But I'd prefer aluminum for cost reasons. I'm a street guy. If I was a racer, I'd try to go carbon fiber all the way.

Plus, UV does not destroy aluminum, like it does CF.
PREFERENCES: High-buck racecar = CF if available, fiberglass if not. Unsponsored street/strip car = Aluminum. Hungry Tinworm = regular old sheet metal

I wonder what front end components would weigh compared to one another. I know CF costs are high but I'd be curious to know how much weight the Chevelle could drop. I'm not after a race car at all but saving weight and being competitive (in style) is always a welcome.

I posted on a couple of different sites about aluminum panels for Chevelle's.
Autometaldirect.com make panels for Camaro's. I talked with Alan and he said there was no market and no plans in the future for production for a Chevelle. So if you are interested, contact Alan. Like the saying goes "the squeaky wheel gets greased." I would like a aluminum front on one of my Chevelle's. I am looking for a hood 2 or 4 inch, fenders, front bumper, doors, trunk, rear bumper. I'm thinking Big, I KNOW. ![]() ![]() ![]() So if you are in with this idea, let auto metal direct know there is a market. |

![]() The aluminum body panels they're making for Camaros and Fox-Mustangs, etc...are not that much more expensive...light-weight, no rust...I'd buy fenders & hoods for 1 Chevelle now...another Chevelle same, plus doors. |
