Default 305 Vortec heads VS 350 Vortec's

A customer brought me 2 engines. One is a 97 5.7 Vortec with the popular "906" heads and the other one is a "reman" 97 5.0 with these heads:
12558059...97......305..........Vortec, truck, 1.84"/1.5" valves

I am rebuilding the 5.7 but the owner is trying to save a few bucks and told me if the 305 heads are in better condition to use them.
Would it be ok to use the 305 heads? Would there be any hp loss or gain? I don't know the combustion chamber size of them.

059s are small chamber...less than 60 I think. They aren't true "swirl ports", so they're not terrible. I guess it depends on the pistons, right?

while they aren't as good as the vortec 350 heads, the vortec 305 heads were good enough to help make a '96 305 more powerful and fuel efficient than a '95 350.

Would there be any noticible hp loss? He said he would sell me the 906's cheap if we decided to use the 305 heads.

The world is full of folks that would run the con and install the 305 heads on the guys' motor just to get the Vortec heads cheap.
The Vortecs are a much better head, but the 305 heads are still probably a lot better than what was available during the smogger era.

I told the guy the 906's were better heads. He said he didnt care. I'm one of the more honest people out there that would build his engine good just to get him to put out a good word for me and bring me more business.

I will let the machine shop (professional eyes) look at the two and make that decision.

Although I do want those 906's! But I won't do anything wrong to get them.

I hope you didn't think I was pointing a finger at you, if you had been one of the "con" guys, your question would never have gotten asked here. Kudos for taking the high road, a lot of folks wouldn't have given it a second thought.
