OK, this might be a crazy question, but have you guys ever figured out or ever seen or heard of ways to obtain a total front suspension travel of a whopping 8" on a 68-72 Chevelle? If so, can you explain the modifications, parts selections, and part numbers needed? I wonder if this can be accomplished with the use of Camaro parts. I say that because while internet shopping for front shocks for Chevelles, I noticed that all of them are listed with 3-4" of travel, while the Camaro front shocks are listed with up to 7" of travel. Any info or ideas will be welcomed.

I'd say maybe look into some of the shock and or spring selections for the dirt track trucks doing jumps(like at the Monster Truck shows) with all of around 24-26" travel in their suspensions....maybe some companies have a scaled down suspension travel selection closer to what a Chevelle would see. It's a start...

Are you talking about 8" of overall travel or 8" of rise?

I suspect the short spindle in a stock Chevelle is going to be the main limiting factor. Probably have to completly redesign the susp with a taller spindle. Jim

8" total. I believe that the typical factory set-up for Chevelles only has about 4", correct? And some Chevelle drag car owners manage 5 and even 6" (so they say).
Hmmm....an intersting point you make there. Thanks.
