re-post.....the comp cam I use (xs-290-s) does fine with my 2075 stall stock type "corvette" torque converter in the 700r4 (67ss).the torque converter issue also had me really concerned before I put the motor in....makes a real grunter motor that also revs past 6000 easily and quickly > 607hp @ 6200, 627 ft/lb @ 4500 >per the dyno. using the 6.385 rods too. amazes me that it revs so quickly - got to have something to do with that bumpstick....

Everybody kick me, BUT, street poser...... AND I'm FINE w/ that b/c my 496 is one too!

Install UDHarold's

278/249/161, 110/106, .618" gross lift and need's .018" hot lash along w/ holed sold lifters and go.

Sucker will be midrange grunt POWERFUL by Harold. It WON'T be a 6,500 rpm cam, even tho it will rev there AND above.

Is your 496 running Paul? Or is it in the closet with all your 301" Baby Mouse parts? Just giving you a rough time!

You will need a 3000 stall converter, but it does not have to be a loose converter. Get a quality converter to avoid what you are thinking of.
